A New Chrysanthemum Cultivar‘Yu Huaiju 4’

Abstract: ‘Yu Huaiju 4’is a new chrysanthemum cultivar developed through systematic selection from a variant in the Huaiju germplasm nursery that exhibited large and aesthetically pleasing flowers. It is characterized by its high quality,high yield,strong lodging resistance,and excellent flower form. The plants vigorous growth,compact habit. The inflorescences feature numerous whorls of ray florets and sparse disc florets,displaying uniform golden-yellow petals and an average diameter of 5.98 cm. Natural flowering occurs from late October to mid-November,with a growth cycle of 215 days. Fresh flower yield averages 15 906.60 kg · hm-2. Dried capitulum contains 1.30% luteoloside,1.67% 3,5-O-dicaffeoylquinic acid and 0.40% chlorogenic acid. This cultivar shows excellent cold tolerance and moderate resistance to Septoria leaf spot. It is recommended for cultivation in Henan’s traditional Huai Chrysanthemum production areas and ecologically similar regions.
