Abstract: ‘Chahuayun’is a new peony cultivar developed through distant hybridization, using Paeonia delavayi(Annan population)as the female parent and the Central Plains cultivar‘Shanhutai’as the male parent. It exhibits an upright growth habit with tall stature, where the flower height is equal to or nearly equal to the plant height. The flower form is rose form, with petals primarily colored red(RHS 46A). A very small number of stamens undergo petalody, resulting in non-strap-shaped petaloid structures. The inner surfaces of the petals feature small,sub-rhombic,reddish-brown flecks. The fragrance is moderate, and the flowering period begins early. This cultivar is recommended for container cultivation and urban landscaping applications.
