A New Industrial Hot Pepper Cultivar‘Rela 8’

Abstract: ‘Rela 8’is a novel F1 hybrid industrial hot pepper cultivar bred by crossing L512M as female parent and L543M as male parent. Its fruits exhibit a lantern shape with distinct ridges on the surface,maturing to an orange-yellow color. Fruit dimensions range from 5.50 cm to 6.50 cm in length and 3.50 cm to 4.00 cm in diameter. The flesh thickness is 0.25 cm to 0.35 cm,with an average single fruit weight of 18.40 g. This cultivar possesses a pungent flavor,with the pungency degree of 173 148 SHU. It demonstrates high yield potential of 55 500 kg · hm-2. It is highly resistant to bacterial wilt,viral diseases,phytophthora blight,and root-knot nematode,suitable for both open-field and protected cultivation in Hainan,Guangdong,Guangxi,and Yunnan regions.
