A New Anthurium andraeanum Cultivar‘Mingnong Yuehua’

Abstract: A new potted cultivar Anthurium andraeanum named‘MingnongYuehua’which was selected from the combination of‘SENSA’(female parent)and‘White King’(male parent),characterized by its upright,outwardly arching and very freely clumping growth habit,early and continuous flowering throughout the year. The plant is medium large with average plant height of 56.0 cm and width of 46.8 cm. The spathes can be distinguished by shiny purplish pink color with the shape of moderate ovate. The spadixes are purple,and positioned above the foliage. The color of spathe could durably retain for long time. The leaf is dark green and ovate-cordate. The spadix is deep purplish red with purplish tips. It takes 15 months from tissue culture seedlings to the commercial products. The cultivar has high disease resistance and good adaptability.
