Abstract

Abstract: The flower bud differentiation processes of Nelum bonucifera‘YouyiMudan L ian’(double flower cultivar) and‘Hongtai Lian’ ( proliferation flower cultivar) were investigated. In‘Youyi MudanLian, the flower bud differentiation processes could be divided into six phases, i. e. , initial differentiation,sepal, petal, stamen, p istil and sexual cell differentiation phases, respectively. For‘Hongtai Lian ’,however, flower bud differentiation p rocesses could be divided into four phases including initial differentiation,
sepal, petal and cephalophorun differentiation phases, respectively. Compared with the double flower cultivar,‘YouyiMudan Lian’, the proliferation flower cultivar, ‘Hongtai L ian’lacks sexual cell differentiation phase due to the petalody of pistil and stamen
