Effects of Light Intensity on Photosynthetic Characteristics and Quality of Taraxacum mongolicum

Abstract: Under different light intensity, chlorophyll content, net photosynthetic rate, and quality of Taraxacum mongolicum were studied. The results indicated that with the decrease of light intensity, photosynthetic midday-depress was weakened, contents of crude-fibre and chlorogenic acid were reduced, while contents of chlorophyll and nitrate were increased. Under the 75% natural light intensity (910 μmol·m-2·s-1), the Pn, contents of soluble protein, soluble sugar and vitamin C were the highest among the four treatments; the chlorogenic acid content was higher, contents of nitrate and crude-fibre were lower than the others. When the light intensity for cultivating Taraxacum mongolicum was 910 μmol·m-2·s-1, its photosynthetic efficiency and quality could be improved.
