Effects of 6-BA Application on Promotion of offset formation in Iris germanica

Abstract: A single foliar application of 6-BA at 3000 or 5000 mg/L stimulated axillary and rhizomic budbreak and rhizome formation in Iris germanica 'Lovely again'. The effect of BA application was more significant on plants with two or four initial rhizomes but not on those with one initial rhizome at 30 d(days after treatment), 60 d and 90 d. Stock plants with two or four initial rhizomes generally formed more rhizomes than stock plants with one initial thizome at 150 d and the next year. However, leaf area and changes in leaf number of stock plants, total leaf area and changes in total leaf number were not affected by 6-BA application.
