A New Ornamental Pear Cultivar‘Beilei Shanli’

Abstract: ‘Beilei Shanli’is a new pear cultivar with excellent appearance which was selected from seedlings of natural hybridization of P. ussuriensis. The tree posture is semi-upright. The cultivar has strong tree vigor. Date of first bloom is very early. The flowering period of pear blossoms lasts for over 13 days. The flower buds are deep pink. In the initial stage of petal expansion,the top of the petals is pink. As the flower gradually spreads outwards,it turns white. It has great ornamental value because it bloom profusely with a long flowering period,as the transition from deep pink flower buds covering the entire tree to pure white blossoms lasts over 13 days. This pear cultivar has strong cold resistance and is suitable for planting in cold regions such as Northeast China. It exhibits exceptional cold hardiness,capable of surviving in environments as low as-30 ℃,making it highly suitable for urban landscaping applications.
