A New Pepper Cultivar‘Qianla 9’

Abstract: ‘Qianla 9’is a new fresh and processed dual-purpose chili cultivar developed by using 8719A as the female parent and 2-96C as the male parent. It is an early-maturing cultivar with a total growth period of about 160 days. The plant height is 82 cm,and the canopy width is 73 cm. The fruit length is 4.5 cm,with a shoulder width of 2.9 cm,and a single fruit weighs 11.75 g,fresh yield reaches 23 958.3 kg · hm-2. The leaves are green,petals are white,and the unripe fruit is green. The fruit grows singly and upright,with a strawberry shape. When mature,the fruit changes from green to deep red,with a smooth,glossy surface and fast color transition. It is suitable for pickled chili processing and can be used to make hot pot base ingredients. The vitamin C content is 1.721 mg · g-1,and the capsaicin content is 0.016%. It is resistant to viral diseases and anthracnose. It is suitable for spring cultivation in Guizhou Province,including Guiyang,Anshun,Zunyi,Bijie,Qianxinan,and Qiannan regions.
