Abstract: The binary vector, contained both MrMYB1 and MrbHLH1,which were related to anthocyanin biosynthesis regulation in Chinese bayberry was recombined. Subsequently,it was transformed into tobacco, tomato and strawberry, respectively. The 35S::MrMYB1-MrbHLH1 lines of these different species were successfully obtained through Agrobacterium-mediated transformation, with accumulation of anthocyanin and red buds, while the wild type plants have the green buds. Furthermore, anthocyanin accumulations were also observed in various tissues of the transgenic tobacco and tomato plants, which are hereditable. Taken together,MrMYB1-MrbHLH1 has the conserved function for anthocyanin biosynthesis in three kinds of horticultural plants and exhibited the potential to be used as a visible reporter gene in plant transformation.
