A New Tea Plant Cultivar‘Shiqian Taicha’

Abstract:

 

‘Shiqian Taicha’is a new middle-sprouting green tea plant cultivar which was selected from wild resources in Shiqian County,Guizhou Province. It has elite quality,middle yield and strong adversity resistance.‘Shiqian Taicha’is shrub type,which has medium leaf,semi-erect growth habit and dense shoot branching. The yield of one bud in spring and one young shoot with two leaves and a bud in summer was 750 kg · hm-2 and 6 000 kg · hm-2 respectively. Its young shoot with medium pubescence is yellow green and can keep long tenderness. It is suitable to process single bud or one and a bud type superior famous green tea,which has green bloom,long lasting chestnut flavor,mellow and thicktast,and yellowish green soup.‘Shiqian Taicha’is suitable to popularize in Guizhou and Wuling Mountain areas tea cultivated regions.
