The New Cultivars of Perilla frutescens‘Duozi 1,‘Duozi 2and‘Duozi 3

Abstract:

Three new cultivars of tetraploid Perilla frutescens were selected by treatment of the growth points of seedlings with colchicine. The tetraploid P. frutescens leaves are shrinking and thicken,its flowers become larger and its weight of seeds have increased,but its fertility is low and seed yields is less.‘Duozi 1leaves are green,the average height is 115 cm,the content of volatile oil in the leaves is 1.23%,and the content of rosmarinic acid in the stems is 0.63%;‘Duozi 2leaves are purple,the average height is 110 cm,the content of volatile oil in the leaves is 0.79%,and the content of rosmarinic acid in the stems is 1.34%;‘Duozi 3leaves are purple center green,the average height is 100 cm,the content of volatile oil in the leaves is 0.63%,and the content of rosmarinic acid in the stems is 1.38%.
