A New Anthurium andraeanum Cultivar‘Anjier’

Abstract: The Anthurium andraeanum cultivar‘Anjier’is a new potted flower variety selected from the hybrid offspring of‘Pandora’(female parent)and‘Sweet Champion’(male parent). It has an average plant height of 50.03 cm;the leaves are 22.59 cm long and 13.92 cm wide. The spathe is purplish-red with weak gloss,averaging 12.50 cm in length and 7.30 cm in width,forming an obtuse angle with the peduncle. The spadix is red-purple,with an average length of 4.83 cm. It blooms easily,with 2 to 3 flowers per plant. The flowers stand above the leaves,and the ornamental period of a single flower lasts up to 1.5 months. It has strong disease resistance and good adaptability. The period from the out-of-bottle stage of tissue-cultured seedlings to the finished flowering stage is 18 to 20 months.
