A New Stropharia rugosoannulata Cultivar‘Shenqiu 3’

Abstract: The Stropharia rugosoannulata cultivar‘Shenqiu 3’is a new cultivar developed through directional breeding from the natural mutation of the parental strain‘SIEF3541’(with a wine-red cap). The mycelium is thick and white,and the optimal temperature for mycelial growth ranges from 22 ℃ to 25 ℃,while the ideal temperature for fruiting body development is between 12 ℃ and 20 ℃. The fruiting bodies grow either singly or in clusters, featuring a hemispherical cap that ranges in color from creamy white to pale yellow. When young,the cap is covered by a veil. Under suitable temperature conditions,generally three to four flushes of mushrooms can be harvested. Cultivated in open fields using rice straw,the average fresh mushroom yield reaches 7 980 kg · hm-2. This cultivar is well-suited for open-field cultivation in the Shanghai region.
