A New Brown Late-ripening Navel Orange Cultivar‘Zongcheng’

Abstract: ‘Zongcheng’,a new late-ripening navel orange cultivar with brown peel,was selected from the bud mutation of‘Lane Late’Navel Orange(Citrus sinensis). It has brown flavedo after fully ripening,special aroma,short oval or spherical fruit. The fruit is seedless,and the average fruit weight is 210 g. The flesh is goluptious,succulent,and fibreless,with the total soluble solids content 10.1%–13.9%,total acid content 0.48%–0.85%. The vitamin C content in fruit juice is up to 0.51 mg • mL-1. In the Three Gorges Reservoir area,the fruit ripens in February of the following year and can last on the tree until early May. The average yield is 30 000 kg • hm-2.
