Abstract: A proteome study based on 2-D gel electrophoresis was performed in order to analyse the cold-stress response of Euonymus japonicus‘Cuzhi’leaves. The plants were grown in the outdoor and total proteins were extracted from leaves monthly from Oct,2008 to Feb,2009. Our results demonstrated significant variations existed in 36 protein spots detected on CBB stained 2-DE gels, among which 19 proteins were identified by mass spectrometry, including well known and newly identified cold-responsive proteins. The identified proteins were involved in several processes, such as energy and metabolism, regulatory, defense response etc. The expression patterns of these proteins were consistent with physiological and biochemical changes.
