Abstract: The flower bud differentiation process of Zingiber zerumbet were studied by the method of par—
affin cut and scanning electron microscope. The results showed that the flower bud differentiation process las—
ted for more than one month from the start of infloreseence pfimordia differentiation in late April to carpel pri—
mordia formation in the mid of June under the Guangzhou climate condition. The process could be divided into
9 phases:infloreseenee pfimordium differentiation phase.bract differentiation phase。flower diferentiation
phase, bracteal leaf differentiation phase, sepal differentiation phase, petal differentiation phase, stamen differentiation
phase,pistil differentiation phase。anther and ovule differentiation phase.Flowers of inflorescen(:e
were acropetally initiated and differentiated.
