A New Pitaya Cultivar‘Daqiu 4’

Abstract: ‘Daqiu 4’is a new pitaya cultivar which is derived from the cross between ‘Guangminghong’as female parent and‘Baishuijing’as male parent. The plant grows vigorously. The fruit is nearly circular,the average fruit weight is 316.0 g,and the edible rate is 73.2%. The fruit peel with many bracts is light red,and the length and thickness of the bracts are medium. The flesh is purple-red,smooth,refreshing and sweet. It contains total soluble solids of 14.24%,the titratable acid of 0.191%. There are 10–12 batches of flowering and fruiting in Guangzhou every year,and the yield can reach 36 780.3 kg • hm-2 at the third years after planting. It has good characteristics as strong ability in flowering and the fruit setting,good performance and quality.
