A New Early Maturing White-flesh Loquat Cultivar‘Zaojia 8’

Abstract: ‘Zaojia 8’is a new early-maturing white pulp loquat cultivar bred by crossing yellow pulp‘Zaozhong 6’as the female parent with‘Javierin’introduced from Spain as the male parent. The tree is vigorous,and the branches are open or lightly drooping. The flowers are white and large. The fruit is pear shaped or oblong with yellow-white peel and white pulp. The fruit is medium in size. The average single fruit weight is 36.53 g. For fruit quality,the thick pulp is very tender,juicy,fragrant,with rich flavor and few seeds. The soluble solids content is 11.6%,the total sugar content is 9.2%,the reducing sugar content is 8.1%,the total acid content is 0.23%,the solid acid ratio is 50︰1,and the edible rate is 72.6%. The fruit ripening period in Guangzhou is from early March to mid-April,and the fruit setting period is long. The yield in the high-yield period is stable at 9.0 t • hm-2. There are few wrinkled or few cracked fruits.
