A New Early-ripening Mulberry Cultivar‘Yueshen 145’

Abstract: ‘Yueshen 145’(Morus atropurpurea Roxb.)is a new early-ripening mulberry cultivar selected from the progenies of‘Tang 10’בHangyou 11’,and with superior quality and high yield. The long and cylindrical fruit are dark purple,and with average fruit weight 12.8 g. it is contains 80.1% juice productivity,11.7% soluble solids,6.1 g • kg-1 titratable acid,0.045 mg • g-1 vitamin C and 1.1 mg • g-1 anthocyanin. In Guangzhou,it germination in mid to late-January,matures in mid-March and harvest period is about 30–35 days. This cultivar can bear fruit next year after planted,with the yield more than 27 000 kg • hm-2 in the 3rd year after planting. It is with poor cold tolerance and suitable to be planted in south of the Yangtze River area.
