A New Cultivar of Yellow Fruit Wolfberry‘Ningnongqi 19’

Abstract: ‘Ningnongqi 19’is a new yellow-fruited wolfberry variety derived from hybridization between the yellow-fruited wolfberry parents‘Ningnongqi 4’and‘Ningnongqi 5’. Its mature fruits are bright yellow,long elliptical with a round and flat top,thin peel,and light yellow fruit color. It has large fruits,with 1 000-fruit weight of fresh fruits 1 310 g,and the juice yield of fresh fruits is 92%. Fresh fruit nutritional indices:total sugar 15%,Lycium barbarum polysaccharide(LBP)0.30%,betaine 0.128%,fructose 3.4%,glucose 6.6%,carotenoids 14 mg · kg-1,flavonoids 0.02%(fresh weight). It features easy picking and good taste,rendering it an ideal wolfberry cultivar for fresh juice processing. However,its anthers do not disperse pollen,so pollination trees must be planted in production and cultivation. The average fresh fruit yield of 3-year-old plants exceeds 4 kg per plant,and it is suitable for cultivation in major wolfberry- producing regions across China.
