High-Quality Pinus koraiensis‘Heilin 3’for Nut Production

Abstract: ‘Heilin 3’,a high-yielding and superior clonal selection of Pinus koraiensis,originates from the seed orchard of asexual lines in Weihe Green Mountain,Heilongjiang Province. This variety has been selected for its outstanding performance among high-yield clones. The cones are tower-shaped,changing color from green to yellowish-brown upon maturity. The seeds are triangular with a yellowish-brown hue;they have a longitudinal diameter of 1.62 to 1.67 cm(average 1.65 cm),a transverse diameter of 1.05 to 1.13 cm(average 1.09 cm),and an average single-seed weight of 0.63 g(ranging from 0.51 to 0.68 g). The average weight of the kernel is 0.21 g(ranging from 0.14 to 0.24 g). The yield is 680 kg · hm-2. Propagation is achieved through grafting,making it suitable for cultivation within the natural distribution area of P. koraiensis in Heilongjiang Province.
