A New Curcuma Cultivar‘Fenbao Yujin’

Abstract: The new cultivar Curcuma‘Fenbao Yujin’was selected from F1 generation population which was derived from the C. petiolata‘Ziyu Meixu Yujin’as female parent and C. hybrida‘Red Torch’as male parent. The average plant height is 123.5 cm when the rhizomes were planted to the full flowering stage. The longest leaf is 68.4 cm in length and 23.0 cm in width. The terminal spike inflorescence above the leaves is 83.2 cm long,with 102 oval bracts. The upper bracts(sterile)are light pink,the lower bracts(fertile)are green with top slightly pink,and the ornamental period of a single inflorescence was 36 days. It flowers from June to November. It is suitable for planting in the open field in southern Guangdong Province.
