A New Pepper Cultivar‘Runjianghong 17’

Abstract: ‘Runjianhong 17’is a new F1 hybrid sheep-horn pepper cultivar bred by crossing zy08085024 as female parent and zy08080407 as male parent. This early-maturing cultivar exhibits a compact plant architecture with plant height of 65 cm and plant spread of 60 cm. It produces approximately 26 fruits per individual,measuring 16.4 cm in length and 3.5 cm in width,and the dry pepper yield reaches approximately 10 500 kg · hm-2. Immature fruits display green coloration,while mature fruits display mauve coloration both externally and internally,demonstrating high capsorubin content with a color value of 332 ASTA. The fruits exhibit low pungency capsaicinoid content of 232 mg · kg-¹,vitamin C of 1 080 mg · kg-1,and soluble solids content of 7.5%. It is moderately resistant to TMV and CMV,and resistant to phytophthora and anthracnose. It is suitable for open field cultivation in spring and summer at Xinjiang,Inner Mongolia,Gansu,Ningxia and other places.
