A New Strawberry Cultivar‘Jixiang’

Abstract:

‘Jixiang’is an early-ripening strawberry cultivar bred from the cross of‘653-44’בBenihoppe’. The fruit is conic-long conic shape with red and good gloss. The size of the fruit cavity is either absent or small. The first class fruit weighs 45.4 g and the second class 28.8 g. The fruit is sweet and sour with a strong aroma. The soluble solids content of‘Jixiang’is 12.2 %,the total sugar content is 7.79 %,the total acid content is 0.63% and the vitamin C content is 0.616 mg · g-1. The fruit firmness of the fruit is 0.568 kg · cm-2. It has high firmness and good shipping quality. The cultivar is resistant to powdery mildew and leaf spot. The yield of per plant is up to 468.4 g. In Hebei,‘Jixiang’is planted in late August to mid-September as a winter crop and ripens in mid-November. As a summer crop,it is planted in mid to late April and ripens in mid to late June.
