Abstract: Volatiles in fruits of three cultivars belonging to different plum species[‘Suili 3’(Prunus salicina),‘Hongguo Yingtaoli’(P. cerasifera)and‘Methley’(interspecific hybrid of the two previous species)] were evaluated by HS–SPME–GC–MS. Results showed that there were differences in both volatile compounds and their contents among cultivars. A total of 58,53 and 29 aromatic volatile compounds were detected in‘Methley’,‘Suili 3’and ‘Hongguo Yingtaoli’,respectively. Moreover, the highest content of volatiles were found in‘Methley’fruits. Aldehydes, alcohols and esters were the dominant volatiles in‘Suili 3’,‘Hongguo Yingtaoli’and‘Methley’,respectively. γ-dodecalactone and γ-decalactone were unique components to‘Methley’. According to volatile components,‘Methley’could be classified as an ester-type plum and’Hongguo Yingtaoli’as alcohol-type.
