Abstract: Several kinds of important enzyme systems inTetranychus cinnabarinus treated with petroleum ether extract of Juglans regia leaves were tested. The results indicated that the extracts of J. regia leaves had strongly acaricidal activities against T. cinnabarinus. The activities of glutathione-S-transferase in T. cinnabarinus were strongly induced, but the activities of acetylcholinease, monoamine oxidase and Ca2+Mg2+-ATPs were restrained. The result suggested that the petroleum ether extract of J. regia leaves may be the cause the transmit block of nerve in mites. The result from the experiment also indicated that the discovery had a good developing prospect for making full use of J. regia leaves as new resources of botanical acaricide.
