A New Koelreuteria bipinnata Cultivar‘Guohong’

Abstract: ‘Guohong’,a new fruit-viewing cultivar,was selected from the seedling forest of Koelreuteria bipinnata Franch.,near the Yellow River Bridge in Huiji District,Zhengzhou,Henan. Its young leaves on new shoots are orange-red,young fruits are grayish-purple,and mature fruits exhibit a bright orange-red color. The fruits ripen during the National Day holiday each year,displaying high ornamental value due to their vibrant orange-red. With its outstanding ornamental characteristics in both fruit and foliage,‘Guohong’is an ideal choice for landscaping and ornamental purposes,holding significant potential for widespread application and promotion.‘Guohong’can be cultivated in all regions where the Koelreuteria bipinnata is adaptable.
