A New Purple Leaf Mustard Cultivar‘Yunzijie 3’

Abstract: ‘Yunzijie 3’is a new leaf mustard cultivar developed by systematic breeding over 6 generations from a mutant plant of local cultivar‘Purple-leaf Mustard’in Ximeng County. It has a semi-erect plant habit with strong growth potential. The leaves are dark purple,without lobelets,obovate,with entire margins,wrinkled surfaces,glabrous pubescence,absent leaf wax,present leaf glossiness. The petioles are light green,crisp and tender,with a rich aroma,unique mustard flavor. The average single plant weight is 1.5 kg,and the average yield is 109 215 kg · hm-2. It contains 35 g · kg-1 of anthocyanins,62.9 mg · kg-1 of vitamin C,and 1.3% of soluble sugars. This cultivar has strong cold resistance,relatively good bolting resistance,and high resistance to white rust. It is suitable for planting in the areas with an altitude ranging from 1 000 to 2 200 meters in Yunnan Province meters and similar regions.
