A New Pseudostellaria heterophylla Cultivar‘Fushen 6’

Abstract: Fushen 6is a new cultivar of Pseudostellaria heterophylla bred via systematic selection from local varieties in Yingshan Town,Zherong County,Fujian. The growth period(from sprouting to wilting) is about 145 days. The plants grow luxuriantly,with a height of 11.2–17.2 cm. The stems are erect,nearly square at the base,round at the top,light to dark purple. The stem diameter is 2.5–3.2 mm. The leaves are thick with slightly upturned edges. The tuberous roots are fusiform,2.2–10.8 cm long,0.3–0.8 cm in diameter,and single fresh weight is 0.3–2.3 g. The average fresh weight yield is about 7 400 kg · hm-2. The average content of water-soluble extracts in the dried product is 34.95%. It has moderate resistance to viral diseases and high resistance to root rot. It is suitable for planting in cool areas at an altitude of 300–1 200 m in Fujian Province.
