A New Cultivar Macadamia‘Nanya 116’of High Kernel Rate

Abstract: ‘Nanya 116’is a new cultivar from a Macadamia seedling population grown from seeds introduced from Australia. Characterized by spherical green bark,spherical shell fruit,and no spots surface. It exhibits an average single fruit weight of 19.3 g,the single fruit weight of the fresh shell fruit is 9.5 g,the single fruit weight of kernel is 2.8 g. The kernel yield rate is 40.7% to 41.9%,with 98.6% to 100% ranking in first grade. The kernel contains 78.2% to 78.6% oil,7.9% to 8.1% protein and 3.51% to 3.89% sugar. With yield of 4 890 kg · hm-2 fresh shell fruit during full fruiting stage. This cultivar is characterized by early fruiting,high and stable yield,high rate in both kernel and first-grade kernels. Suitable for planting in areas of Guangdong and Guangxi without severe frost and typhoon damage,as well as in the valley regions of the Nanpanjiang and Hongshuihe in Guizhou,and similar areas.
