A New Chinese Cherry Cultivar‘Shuzimei’

Abstract: ‘Shuzimei’is an excellent Chinese cherry cultivar selected from hybrid progeny of‘Nanzaohong’בHongfei’. The fruit is reniform shaped,weighing 5.0–6.0 g,with a maximum weight of up to 7.2 g. The fruit skin is purple-red,and the flesh is light yellow,juicy,and rich in flavor. The soluble solids content ranges from 16.8% to 21.4%,the titratable acid content is about 0.45%,and the total anthocyanin content is about 53.71 mg · kg-1 FW. The fruit firmness can reach up to 9.8 N. The fruit development period spans about 48–52 days,maturing in late March to early-mid April in Chengdu,Sichuan Province. The yield can reach 7 800–8 250 kg · hm-2 for the 4th year trees. It is suitable for planting in similar ecological areas of plains such as Sichuan Province.
