Abstract: ‘WBG S2’is a new long-blooming autumn lotus cultivar，crossed between‘Fenhong Lingxiao’（tropical lotus）and‘Taikong Hongqi’（hardy lotus）. It is a large-sized plant with red and double typed flower. Under field planting conditions，the height of erect leaves is 100–160 cm. Leaf area is 55–77 cm × 43–75 cm. Flower density is 8–12 per square meter，and the height of flower is little higher than that of leaf. The number of flower petals is 8–12 and its flower diameter could reach 24–28 cm. The green-ripening receptacle is bowl shaped. The rhizomatous stem expands slightly to form a lotus whip. The new cultivar blooms from June to October in the Yangtze River region of China. This cultivar can be used both for ornamental and seed-productional purposes.
