Abstract: ‘Jinduan Shanli’is a new pear cultivar with excellent appearance which was selected from seedlings of natural hybridization of P. ussuriensis. The tree posture is semi-upright. The cultivar has strong tree vigor. Date of first bloom is very early. The pear blossoms in Xingcheng area start to bloom around 10th April. The flower buds are pink. In the initial stage of petal expansion,the top of the petals is pink. As the flower gradually spreads outwards,it turns white.‘P. ussuriensis-Jinduan’has great ornamental value because it has a long flowering period. The flowering period of pear blossoms lasts for over 14 days. The flowers are large,overlapping each other,and clusters of them resemble white brocade. This pear cultivar has strong cold resistance and is suitable for planting in cold regions such as Northeast China. It exhibits exceptional cold hardiness,capable of surviving in environments as low as-27 ℃,making it highly suitable for urban landscaping applications.
