Recent Advances of Disease and Stress Resistance Breeding of Cabbage in China

Abstract: In recent years,the impact of noval epidemic diseases(such as Fusarium wilt,black rot,and clubroot)and disastrous weather(e.g. extreme low temperature)on cabbage production has become more and more serious. So it is of great significance for the sustainable development of cabbage industry to cultivate new varieties of resistance to disease and stress. In this paper,the studies on the inheritance and breeding of disease resistance and stress tolerance in cabbage were reviewed from the aspects of identification and selection of disease resistance materials,innovation of germplasm resources,mapping and cloning of resistance genes/QTLs,and breeding of new varieties with high quality and multi-resistance and the main problems existed at present and the prospect of breeding were pointed out.
