Physiological Effects of Rapamycin Pretreatment on Delaying the Senescence of Cut Flower in Tree Peony‘Luoyanghong’

Abstract: In order to reveal effects of TOR on opening and senescence of tree peony cut flowers and its physiological mechanism,we studied vase life,energy substances content,sugar content,ethylene production rate,respiratory rate,MDA content and PsTOR,PsSnRK1 and PsHXK1 relative expression level using cut flowers of potted tree peony‘Luoyanghong’under the pretreatment of 0.01 μmol • L-1 rapamycin for 2 h. The results indicated that rapamycin increased the best viewing period and the maximum flower diameter,increased soluble sugar content and energy charge in the petals,decreased the respiration consumption and MDA content,down-regulated expression of PsTOR,PsSnRK1 and PsHXK1 genes in the early period,and up-regulated expression of PsTOR and PsSnRK1 genes in the later periods. The data suggest that rapamycin can regulate energy-aware through TOR pathway to delay the florescence and senescence of cut tree peony flowers,thus improving the quality of cut tree peony flowers during vase periods.
