A New Early-maturing Chieh-qua Cultivar ‘Xinxiu’

Abstract:

‘Xinxiu’is a new early maturity hybrid of chieh-qua. This hybrid has a vigorous growth potential and strong fruit setting ability. The fruit is cylindrical with dark green skin and no furrow. The fruit is 15.0–16.0 cm in length,6.0–7.0 cm in diameter,and 1.5 cm in flesh thickness. The average weight of the fruit is about 300–400 g. The fruit flesh is dense and with good taste. The period from sowing to first harvest is about 73 days in spring and 54 days in autumn. The general yield is 60 t · hm-2. The hybrid is medium-resistant to fusarium-wilt and extensively adaptive to grow in spring and autumn in South China.
