Abstract: Naturally occurring variation among wild relatives of cultivated crops is an important genetic resource in plant breeding and variety improvement. Development of single segment introgression lines from wild species by maker-assisted selection (MAS) provides a new tool formore efficient use of super allelic gene from wild resource. This paper reviews establishment of introgression lines from wild tomato in Lycopersicon by MAS and application of theses lines in fine mapping, analysis of QTL effect and gene map-based cloning.
