Responses of Proline Content and Activity of Antioxidant Enzymes in Warmseason Turfgrasses to Soil Drought Stress

摘要: 测定了土壤干旱条件下矮生狗牙根、沟叶结缕草和地毯草相对含水量和相对电导率的变化。结果表明,矮生狗牙根的耐旱性较强,沟叶结缕草次之,而地毯草对干旱敏感。干旱胁迫下,地毯草积累脯氨酸最多,沟叶结缕草次之,矮生狗牙根最少,草坪草的脯氨酸的积累与耐旱性呈负相关。地毯草超氧化物歧化酶(SOD)活性持续升高,过氧化氢酶(CAT)活性在短暂升高后降低,过氧化物酶(POD)活性降低;矮生狗牙根和沟叶结缕草的SOD活性先升后降,CAT和POD活性则维持较高水平,表明草坪草的耐旱性与抗氧化酶活性有关。

Abstract: Relative water content and relative electrolyte leakage of three warm-season turfgrasses, Tifdwarf bermudagrass(Cynodon dactylon×C.transvaalensis), manilagrass [Zoysia matrella (L.)Merr.]and carpetgrass [Axonopus compressus (Sw.)Beauv.] were measured after they were subjected to soil drought stress
The data showed that Tifdwarf and manilagrass had high levels of relative water content (RWC) and low levels of relative electrolyte leakage(REL), whereas carpetgrass showed rapid decline of RWC and rise of REL under soil
drought stress. The results indicated that the drought tolerance decreased in following order: Tifdwarf > manilagrass>earpetgrass. Proline was accumulated in above three species with a negative correlation to drought stress, indicating that proline accumulation in turfgrasses was resulted from the injury by drought stress. Carpetgrass showed continuous increase in superoxide dismutase (SOD) activity,a transient rise of catalase(CAT)activity and reduction of peroxidase (POD) activity,which may lead to accumulation of H202 and therefore injury to plants. Tifdwarf and manilagrass had a transient rise of SOD activity,and prolonged increase in aetivities of CAT and POD. The results indicated that antioxidant enzymes were associated to drought tolerance of warm-season turfgrasses.
