Abstract: ‘Qilin’is a new cultivar of Renanthera Tom Thumb propagated by tissue culture of a mature plant selected from the crossing Renanthera imschootiana with Renanthera monachica. The new cultivar is characterized by upright growing, straight plant type, dark green leathery leaves, thick flower stalk with many flowers, long flowering period and long flower life, and strong adaptability. Three years observation on the field trials confirmed the stability of the cultivar. All the above mentioned characteristics indicated‘Qilin’has high ornamental value and good market prospects．
